DESIGN-A-CARD IS ON THE BACKBURNER
The email question was, "When will you have the print your own cards available?"
Our dream is to have playing cards that you can
run through your printer at home then easily tear them out and play cards or
make flash cards. The options are unending and the fun is awesome.
We have been working on this for well over a year now! All the bugs were
almost worked out, then Microsoft XP came out. Now we wait...and
wait...and wait! We get one excuse after another as to why it is not done
yet. Honestly, we are about ready to branch off in another direction with
new programmers. So stay tuned for more information.

LIMITED EDITION OF WILD! ARRIVES IN ZOOS
Our
limited edition of WILD! (drawn by playing card artist Peter Wood) hit the
streets about 3 months ago. The specific style of cards that Newt's
Playing Cards likes to produce are what we call "seek-n-find" playing cards.
To the card industry they are known as semi-transformational playing cards.
About three weeks ago the deck started shipping to various zoos throughout the
USA in an effort to bring our fun twist to the world. If you work in, or
know someone who works in a zoo (no pun intended), pass on our information to
them.
If you have not gotten your deck of WILD! yet,
you better jump now. It is a limited edition of 5,000 decks, and they
won't last long.

Newt's is the first store in the U.S. dedicated to family-friendly playing cards.
Visitors to the bricks-and-mortar store or the Web site will find over 1,700 decks of playing cards to suit every taste, including kids’ cards, educational cards, sports cards, holiday cards, and many other varieties. Some are for collecting, others for playing, but all are suitable for any card games and are intended to encourage people to spend time with family, friends and loved ones, says founder James Esteph. “Playing card games is a great way to slow down and spend some quality time with other folks. In our fast food, fast-paced world we need to be encouraged to slow down and enjoy the moment,” he explained. “We also want to promote the hobby of collecting playing cards. They’re wonderful, inexpensive things to collect, and the options are unending. It’s a perfect hobby to share as a family.”
Along with carrying playing cards from major brands like Bicycle, Carta Mundi, Heritage and Congress, Newt’s publishes its own line of cards with a twist, known as semi-transformational cards in the playing card world. The first deck, WILD!, was just released; a second, called Busy Bears, is due for release in November.
Newt’s also offers 38 different Monopoly games, including Peanuts, Elvis, NFL, NASCAR and Bible versions, as well as gifts for playing card collectors and enthusiasts.
“Whether you collect playing cards, are a serious card player or just play occasionally, you will find a deck of cards that suits everyone at Newt's Playing Cards,” said Bill Dollison, store manager and COO. “We are looking forward to setting the trends for the market.”
